Why a small area change can add a whole pack

Coverage is continuous; an order usually is not.

Whole packs create steps

A target of 21 m² at 2 m² per pack needs 11 packs, covering 22 m². You cannot normally buy 10.5 packs. An extra 0.1 m² can cross a pack boundary, which is why the final order may change more sharply than the floor area.

Waste and spare are different

For a 20 m² floor with 10% waste, the target is 22 m². Packs covering 2.5 m² require 9 packs, or 22.5 m². Spare beyond the measured floor is 2.5 m²: the 2 m² allowance plus 0.5 m² from rounding. Our result shows the combined spare, not a second waste percentage.

Do not combine incompatible products

A laminate room and a tiled room need separate orders. The same applies to different colors, finishes, pack sizes or batches that should not share offcuts. Use one estimate per compatible product group and add the separate costs afterward.

Account for the rest of the purchase

Pack count times pack price covers material only. Delivery, sales tax, adhesive, grout, trim, thresholds, underlay and labor can change the budget. Check the supplier's pack coverage and return terms rather than relying on a generic board count or a price per square unit.
